Doctors

Dr. D'Souza

Care of Mind Australia provides psychiatric assessment and care planning from Ramsay Clinic Macarthur, with an emphasis on careful formulation, practical recommendations, and good recovery-oriented, person-centred collaboration with people seeking assistance for their mental health, their carers and families, and treating teams.

Clinical approach

Dr D'Souza is a consultant psychiatrist. Qualifications: MBBS (University of Sydney), FRANZCP, Adv. Cert. Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Masters Psychiatry (HETI), B.Eng (USyd).

Dr D'Souza is passionate about understanding each person's story and working collaboratively to support their improved mental health, recovery, and wellbeing. He has a deep respect for the challenges and difficulties each person faces and their unique recovery journey, and feels grateful and privileged to help people who are entrusted to his care.

His approach is person-centred, strength-focused, and evidence-based, drawing on a biopsychosocial and culturally informed framework. His focus is on helping people optimise their overall health and fulfil their potential for a better quality of life on their terms.

Dr D'Souza has broad psychiatric and mental health clinical experience as a psychiatrist, including assessing and treating adolescents, adults, and older age individuals. He works with people and families experiencing complex presenting problems, including anxiety disorders, complex trauma and PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, personality disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disability, and addictions.

Dr D'Souza is a psychiatrist with sub-specialised training and extensive experience in youth mental health, ages 12 to 25, and consultation-liaison psychiatry, the sub-specialty treating mental health conditions in people with complex and impactful physical health problems such as neurological disorders, cancer, or immunological conditions. He has strong expertise in supporting people whose mental health is impacted by complex physical illness and in working with youth.

Dr D'Souza has worked across many different mental health and psychiatric settings, with extensive specialised experience in youth mental health and consultation-liaison psychiatry services. He has held academic appointments with WSU and UNSW, published in peer-reviewed journals, and is actively involved in teaching, supervising trainee doctors, and service improvement.
